Comienzo un repaso a algunos de los sellos discográficos cuya música me ha acompañado desde hace años.
Tru Thoughts se formó en 1999 en Brighton, en la costa sur de Inglaterra, por Robert Luis y Paul Jonas, en torno a los invitados habituales al Club que ambos regentaban en esa ciudad, en el que Rob era el DJ residente
Después de una serie de sencillos eclécticos de 12” y 7”, el primer álbum del artista fue el debut de Bonobo, “Animal Magic”, que inmediatamente tuvo gran repercusión. A medida que las noches de club seguían llenándose, todos los ingresos se reinvertían en el sello. No pasó mucho tiempo hasta que fueron contratados artistas de la talla de Quantic, Nostalgia 77, Alice Russell y TM Juke formando la columna vertebral del sello. Siguieron otros fichajes como Belleruche de Londres; Lance Ferguson de Melbourne, Australia, la Hot 8 Brass Band de Nueva Orleans, etc.
En 2007, Quantic se mudó a Colombia y comenzó a trabajar con numerosos artistas de América Central y del Sur, lo que abrió una nueva y emocionante corriente de estilos musicales en el sello. Ampliando su red a medida que pasó el tiempo, han lanzado música de todo el mundo.
Todavía opera desde Brighton, pero ahora también cuenta con oficina en Los Ángeles, lanzando más de 120 álbumes y siendo aún 100% independientes. Su política es publicar música de todos los estilos de artistas que les parezcan interesantes y creativos, desde instrumentales downtempo hasta temas de club, pasando por reggae, dub y hip hop, hasta las maravillosas voces de cantantes y compositores influenciados por el folk, el jazz y el soul.

I begin a review of some of the record labels whose music has accompanied me for years.
Tru Thoughts was formed in 1999 in Brighton, on the south coast of England, by Robert Luis and Paul Jonas, around regular guests at the Club they both ran in that city, where Rob was the resident DJ.
After a series of eclectic 12” and 7” singles, The first album was Bonobo's debut, “Animal Magic”, which immediately had a great impact. The club nights continued successfully, with all proceeds reinvested into the label. It wasn't long until artists such as Quantic, Nostalgia 77, Alice Russell and TM Juke were signed, forming the backbone of the label. Other signings followed, such as Belleruche from London; Lance Ferguson from Melbourne, Australia, the Hot 8 Brass Band from New Orleans, etc
In 2007, Quantic moved to Colombia and began working with numerous artists from Central and South America, opening up an exciting new stream of musical styles on the label. Expanding their network as time has gone on, they have released music from all over the world.
Still operating from Brighton, but now also having an office in Los Angeles, releasing over 120 albums and still being 100% independent. Their policy is to publish music of all styles of artists that they find interesting and creative, from downtempo instrumentals to club songs, through reggae, dub and hip hop, to the wonderful voices of singers and songwriters influenced by folk, jazz and soul.
